Weekend Guide [TUESDAY]

April 11th, 12th & 13th Weekend Guide

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

SEE
What: 2010 Blues
Why:
How do you envision Vancouver after the 2010 Winter Games? If you’re playwright James Long, it’s a bleak scene indeed, with a profusion of drug addicts, homeless, and other “unwanteds” converging on the slopes of North Vancouver. But it gets worse: in Long’s “The View from Above,” it rains, more, too - and North Van homes commence sliding. A pessimist’s dream come true.
Where: Performance Works, 1218 Cartwright Street, Granville Island. Tickets: $15-$24 through Tickets Tonight, 604-631-2872.
When: April 12-27, Tue-Sat 8 p.m; Sun 2 p.m. Free preview April 11, 8 p.m, giculturalsociety.org

GO
What: Crafty Shopping
Why:
Support local crafters and nab one-of-a-kind, adorable items including jewelry from BuenoStyle, spats (yes, spats) from Florence Ann, and notebooks and flip pads from Fable Industries at the “I Heart Crafts” bazaar. We heart crafts, too, so we’re bringing a backpack to schlep home the treasures we find.
Where: Ukrainian Cultural Centre, 805 E. Pender Street.
When: April 13, 11 a.m-6 p.m, Admission $2. Info: www.iheartcraftsbazaar.blogspot.com
