Vancouver Trendz [THURSDAY]

Show Offs

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Interior design is undoubtedly the hottest profession in North America these days. A few years ago before Trading Spaces and HGTV, would you have ever thought we'd be tuning in by the thousands to see people move furniture around and install plumbing? It turns out that watching paint dry is actually quite entertaining.

And starting today, B.C. Place is going to be packed with all of us design geeks, gawking at the latest latex paints, Feng Shui techniques, and electronic screwdrivers like a bunch of Trekkies scoping out the blueprints for the latest model of the U.S.S. Enterprise. That's because today marks the beginning of the four-day Vancouver Home and Interior Design Show.

Let's face it. This thing's going to be huge and there's no way you're going to miss it. Whether you want to renovate your garage, revamp your bathroom, add solar panels to your penthouse, or organize your closet, there is going to be someone here to help you. We're talking hundreds of design experts gathered in one place and easily accessible. Yeah, they're basically going to get mobbed Beatles-style. So get there early, and maybe even think about getting your elbows sharpened so you're ready to face the crowd.

The show opens tonight from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and runs Friday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $13. For more details, go to www.vancouverhomeandinteriordesignshow.ca.
