Super Star

It's a balancing act most people would consider inconceivable, but local fashion designer Jenny Yen has managed to make clothes that look professional, feel great and exude sex appeal all at the same time. And for now, her fashions are only available in Vancouver (well, Victoria too.)

After graduating from Ryerson and working as an illustrator and dance costume designer, Yen moved back to Vancouver and has taken a lead role in this city's crazy hot fashion scene. She started her own company, J.Y. Star Apparel, and now has two lines ready for the women of the 604 (and 778).

The Hylas & Nymph look uses simple, clean lines and muted tones, occasionally spiced up with some frills. The outfits radiate power, but without ever looking mannish. Perfect for a lunch date or a night at the Playhouse.

Yen's CiCi line is new for this fall. It utilizes the same simplicity, but adds more flare. An all-grey outfit (pictured right) unexpectedly brings a little bit of the bathrobe feeling into the business suit look. Juggling differing influences in Yen's trademark way.

Ladies of Vancouver, this is what you want to wear this fall.
