Funds-a-raising

Friday, December 22, 2006

This is a great time to give a little to the community as well as your friends and family. Here are some local charities that will be grateful for your donations, whether they come in your name or as a gift to someone else. Charity website CanadaHelps.org also offers gift cards that can be purchased online that allow your giftee to choose which charity they'd like to support.

BCSPCABC SPCA  - A little puppy love is a great gift. And kitty love, ferret love, hamster love, fishy love and birdy love too. Just don't bring anyone home an actual puppy for Christmas, leave picking out a pet for the new year.

British Columbia Cancer Foundation - Support both cancer research and care for locals with the disease. Many cancer breakthroughs have come from B.C. as a result of funds raised by this organization.

Greater Vancouver Food Bank- Always in need of donations, whether they're in cash or food form. Consider a monthly donation plan as supplies often run dry after the holidays.

Habitat for HumanityHabitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver - Help build affordable homes for those who need a little assistance in the Lower Mainland's horrendously expensive real estate climate.

SPEC - Society Promoting Environmental Conservation
- This local group fights hard to make Vancouver a sustainable, environmentally friendly city. Supporting them will help keep our city green.

And if you've still got some shopping to do get some great ideas from our seasonal gift guides:
