You might consider brooches strictly the kind of thing your grandma would pin on her dress for special occasions, but this season style mavens are glitzing up their holiday party outfits with flower and star-shaped clusters of rhinestones, garnets, topazes and crystals - just like granny used to do. If a rummage through her jewellery box doesn’t bear fruit (cuz the savvy old lady got there before you did and has already affixed her favourites to various coats and scarves) head to your nearest Salvation Army or SPCA thrift stores and raid their display cases. The more upwardly mobile can check out offerings from the Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection - made up of one-of-a-kind costume jewellery from Victorian times to the 1980s.
