VANCOUVER TRENDZ [THURSDAY]

Phones for Food

November 15, 2007

Brain tumours and goofy ring tones aside, it’s safe to say we looooove our cellphones! But let’s face it: mobiles are not made to last, nor do they decompose once they hit the landfill. Feel good about saying so long to your cell - and feed the hungry in the process - by recycling it with the Canadian Associated Food Bank’s Phones-for-Food Project. Used cells are collected and sold to the remanufacturing industry, with the proceeds going to local food banks. Just think: your little old cellphone could translate into a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, or a bunch of bananas for a family in need.
