VANCOUVER TRENDZ [THURSDAY]

Sock It to Me

November 1, 2007

Is there anything quite as sexy as a pair of knee socks - Japanese schoolgirl uniform not included! While available at many shops downtown, no one is doing hosiery quite like Sans Soucie, where recycled nylon (as in old pantyhose) is the main material for dresses, skirts and yes - knee socks. All leg wear, including the label’s new footless tights, are hand-dyed and hand-sewn, for a real one-of-a-kind feel. If you’re one to let your toe nails grow for weeks on end, don’t fret - poking holes in these babies ain’t so easy. The process of hand-dying, cutting, silk-screening, heat setting and sewing together each garment, before draping it over a mannequin for a custom fit, means these chausettes are less likely to run or pill. Great news for fashionistas on the go who want to wear their knee socks - literally - sans soucie. Available at Urbanity, 207 Abbot St.

Have you entered this week's Contest yet? You could win a $100 Gift Certificate to A&B Sound. And chocolate is the thing in yesterday's Brand New.
