What: Devendra Banhart
Why: Deeply immersed in a music best described as weird folk music crossed with an indie spirit, Devendra Banhart cuts a unique figure with a fierce beard, bohemian fashion tastes and oh yes, a fine singing voice. Banhart will bring his unique act to the Commodore Ballroom this Saturday, filling the space with spare instrumentation, surreal lyrics and flamboyant showmanship. He’s been compared with artists such as Marc Bolan, Daniel Johnston and Joanna Newsom. His shows may lean towards the odd but they’re never predictable. Tickets are $28.50, and the doors open at 8:00 p.m.
