HOT PICKS [FRIDAY]

Southern Comfort

August 24, 2007

Gastown’s swathe of restaurants to suit every palate just keeps growing, and new kid on the block, recently opened Cobre brings influences from way down south Cobra Nuevo Latino Cuisinewith traditional Cuban, Central and South American cuisine blended with a modern twist. Their citrus juice chilled ceviche and crisp Pisco sours are just two reasons the restaurant is creating a buzz..

The pairing of old and new is also reflected in the heritage brick walls and exposed ceilings balanced by the "Sexy Cube," a glowing, opaque frosted glass server station in the middle of the room.

And if you’d like a look at the behind the scenes of creating a new, hip restaurant, check out Cobre’s “making-of” blog at www.cobrerestaurant.com/blog/index.html.

Cobre: www.cobrerestaurant.com, 52 Powell Street, 604.669.2396, open seven nights a week, 5:00 p.m. until late.

Have you entered this week's Contest yet? You could win tickets to the Arts Club's production of Company. And what are you planning to screen on your big old TV after yesterday's Vancouver Trendz?
