HOT PICKS [FRIDAY]

No Passport Required

August 10, 2007

Chinatown festivalOne of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods celebrates both its heritage and its future at the Eighth Annual Vancouver Chinatown Festival. Walking tours of the neighbourhood are scheduled, and a ‘night market’ style area will feature food, souvenirs and other merchandise. There’s an activity corner for little one, with crafts and battery operated RC cars and other exhibits, including Chinese folk art demonstrations.

And no festival is complete without a parade, and this one is no different. Huge, swirling Chinese dragons will be the focus of the opening day parade. Admission is free, and the festival spans Saturday and Sunday.

Where: Columbia and Keefer Streets, www.vancouver-chinatown.com
When: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Have you entered this week's Contest yet? You could win two tickets (and two books) to the Vancouver International Writer's Festival. And are you addicted to crackbook after yesterday's Vancouver Trendz?
