VANCOUVER TRENDZ [THURSDAY]

In Your Face

August 9, 2007

Facebook is the online social network that just keeps growing. Initially, MySpace was the darling of the online world, but the site’s predominantly teen demographic facebookseems to have moved on to the more sophisticated Facebook.

But MySpace refugees aren’t the only ones to make the switch; seems everyone has been congregating on the site since it was opened to the public last year. Facebook breaks down its members into different networks, and Vancouver was at last count the third biggest network on the system. This means you’re permanently in a mega-loop of upcoming events and friend’s parties. And you can reach out to friends of friends through “buddy lists” and see the degrees of separation between you and the rest of the city. So sign up on Facebook, because if someone hasn’t asked you if you’re on yet, they soon will.

Have you entered this week's Contest yet? You could win two tickets (and two books) to the Vancouver International Writer's Festival. And did you book fido's spa visit after yesterday's Brand New?
