BRAND NEW [WEDNESDAY]

Close, but no cigar?

July 18, 2007

There’s always something worth celebrating - a promotion, a new baby in the world, smelling a rose or simply that it’s the weekend.

Just in time, City Cigar is introducing the new Cohiba Maduro 5. The big news is that it’s the first Maduro cigar that Cuba has made in 45 years. The Maduro uses Connecticut-broadleaf wrappers from Cuba (which is what you end up tasting for those less experienced smokers) and Dominican Republic binders with a mix of tobaccos from the Dominican and Mexico.  The wrappers have been aged for five years and the cigars come in three different sizes.

On July 28th City Cigar holds the ‘official’ launch of the Maduro at their 6th annual ‘Smoke on the Water’ boat cruise under the fireworks.  Tickets are $130 each. That buys you a prime rib dinner, one free drink and of course, a Cohiba Maduro to enjoy under the stars – real and the manufactured variety.  If you’re interested, call soon because they sell out every year.

And remember the Brazilian proverb – “Every cigar goes up in smoke."
