VANCOUVER TRENDZ [THURSDAY]

Summertime Mojo

June 14, 2007

MojitoNow for an ode to one of Cuba’s greatest exports – lime, mint, rum and soda – a blend that seems far too refreshing, satisfying and heavenly to be summed up in just one word - Mojito.

The mojito is Cuba’s oldest cocktail and the name comes from “mojo” which is the African word for casting a spell. Trust us, one sip and you will be under the spell.

Magical mojitos are the new margarita, the perfect summer drink. And where better than sitting on one of Vancouver’s fabulous patio’s to test out this delectable treat that not only tastes wonderful, but is actually healthier than other more sugar-filled cocktails. Best mojito’s in the city? Havana of course, where it all began. It's well worth the visit over to the Drive to drink from the source. Twists on the mojito can also be found at Milestone’s and Earls, where they blend the ingredients into a delectable, frozen ambrosia. Salud!

Have you entered to win a ten double bill pass to the Pacific Cinémathèque yet? You could impress all your friends by taking them to foreign, independent, art-house, experimental flicks. And will your Daddy be a moneybags this Sunday after reading yesterday's Brand New?
