HOT PICKS [FRIDAY]

Weird-y Beard-y

May 18, 2007

How many T-shirt designers base their work on a fictional Spanish explorer/scientist from the Edwardian age and his encounters with werewolves in the New World? We're pretty sure just one. And the name of the company is Beard & Bangs.

Beards & BangsBrooklyn-based artists Doris Ho and Mark Kane started working together in 2001, putting out shirts based on their love of history and folklore. The Constantino line features old-style woodblock prints of owls, boxers, men with giant moustaches, a werewolf riding a horse and, of course, the venerable and completely made-up Senor himself. Figuring out the connections between the shirts is just part of the fun.

Luckily for us, this rare line is available in Vancouver in both men's and women's fits. So grab your imagination and make an addition to your wardrobe that's guaranteed to start a conversation. Or you can find them online at Active Endeavors (men's &  women's)

City of Pula, 210 Abbott Street (near Water), 604.685.4485
