VANCOUVER TRENDZ [THURSDAY]

Go to the Light

May 17, 2007

What provides the same amount of light as an ordinary light bulb but uses only a quarter of the energy? The answer is a compact fluorescent light bulb, and this environmentally-friendly invention is sweeping Vancouver and the planet.

See the LightWith a much more efficient design than it's 100-year-old counterpart, the curly-shaped CFL bulb's time has come. They're manufactured in all sizes and shapes you need to fit any fixture. And they're available practically everywhere.

You'll notice a big price difference at first. Those bulbs are twice the price of a normal one. But they last an average of five years and use waaaaaay less power than the boring old bulbs, which give off 90 per cent of their energy in heat instead of light. So, you end up saving a lot of money in the long run.

Give your wallet and the environment a break. Go for a CFL bulb.

Have you entered this week's Contest yet? You could win a weekend brunch for two at Diva at the Met, yum! And did you see RED after reading yesterday's Brand New?
