BRAND NEW [WEDNESDAY]

Your carbon lip-print?

April 4, 2007

You love your planet and you want to take care of it by being more environmentally responsible. You think about your carbon footprint. You reduce, reuse and recycle. Your next car will be a hybrid, but what about your makeup? It tends to be chosen for its effectiveness rather than its environmental awareness, but Canadian-based company CARGO makes it possible to have it all with the introduction of PlantLove, their new botanical lipstick.

Plant LoveThe tube is made entirely out of corn and is 100% biodegradable and greenhouse-gas-neutral (yup, your lipstick can fight global warming)! The box it’s packaged in is not just biodegradable, the paper is embedded with wild flower seeds, and if you plant it they will grow. And as for the lipstick itself – it’s infused with Orchid Complex(TM), meadowfoam seed oil, jojoba and shea butter, and it’s mineral-oil and petroleum free. Five of the hues were designed by actresses who collaborated with CARGO to create their perfect lipstick hue, while the other six shades were inspired by places of ecological beauty, including Canada’s very own South Nahinni River in the Northwest Territories. And they top it all of by donating two dollars from lipstick sold to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centre. What’s not to PlantLove?
