BRAND NEW [WEDNESDAY]

Luck ‘o the Irish

March 28, 2007

OK we admit it, we’ve got a touch of Irish in us. And now we can really ‘drink’ it in, thanks to the opening of Vancouver’s largest Irish pub, right downtown.

CeilisCeili’s Irish Pub & Restaurant has taken over the old SkyBar location on Smithe. With three floors, Canada’s largest rooftop patio featuring a retractable roof, fireplaces and heat lamps, and really good pub-style food, Ceili’s is making friends quickly.

There’s plenty of room to meet up with a big group, or ask for the Private Banshee room with full service bar if you want extra special attention.

We ate the Irish Lamb burger with chipotle aioli, the Guinness and garlic mussels, and the Southwest chicken salad. And nary a word was spoken. In fact, one of us loved her Southwest chicken salad so much, she went back again the next night.

Here’s a little Irish know how- Ceili (pronounced Kay-lee) means “a gathering of friends for song, dance and drink.”

C’mon, bring your dancing shoes – we’ll meet you at the bar.
