BRAND NEW [WEDNESDAY]

What can one person do?

March 26, 2008

A lot it seems.  From the germ of an idea comes Be the Change Earth Alliance, a community engagement program for people concerned and curious about climate change.

Two years in the making, Be the Change launches on March 29th with a symposium here in Vancouver.  Based on research from Northwest Earth Institute out of Portland, Green Peace Action Guides, and ecological footprint measuring tools (among other things), this one day workshop is chock full of meaningful dialogue and useful information.  Participants will be encouraged to join Community Action Circles with goals to reduce heating, electricity and travel by car, as well as increase local produce consumption and more.

The peeps behind Be the Change have brought us Music West and Slam City Jam in the past.  So stay tuned - on October 4th & 5th Be the Change holds their community conference and festival at the Croatian Cultural Centre filled with music, film, visual art, poetry, multimedia and dance.

We’re all “warmly” invited. . .

Be the Change Earth Alliance, March 29th from 9:30am - 4:30pm: $45 advance, $50 at the door.  Canadian Memorial, 1825 W 16th Ave, 604.731.3101. www.bethechangeearthalliance.org

Yesterday's Weekend Guide has dance, cycling, and musical mould. Have you entered this week's Contest yet? Win a $100 gift certificate to Tim Hortons - and enjoy!
