BRAND NEW [WEDNESDAY]

A Self-Parking Car?

January 23, 2008

We’d never have thought it possible.  But some people in this city sure could use it. . .

Imagine a car that can parallel park itself.  Invented by Lexus, the LS 460 has an optional Advanced Parking Guidance System that does all the hard work.  No matter how tight the spot is.

All you have to do is pull up alongside a space, having driven past the rear car before lining yourself up alongside the front car.  A sensor “reads” the length of the space.  You press a button, slide the car into reverse, and voila. . . it literally parks the car for you.  All you have to do is keep the speed low enough and stop the car when the display shows you’re close to the rear car’s bumper.

Next thing you know, cars will cook breakfast and do the dishes. . .

If you're lost for something to do this weekend there's lots of Rock n' Roll with some saucy Chaucer thrown into yesterday's Weekend Guide. Have you entered this week's Contest yet? Win a $100 Gift Certificate to City Cigar.
