VANCOUVER TRENDZ [THURSDAY]

T-Fetish

January 17, 2008

OK, so you have a thing for masks. Not Venice carnival-style masks, but those of the black leather variety. As in those worn by “The Gimp” from Pulp Fiction, or as advertised in those naughty shops on Davie and Granville.

Well, that’s cool. So cool, in fact, that you can advertise your fetish on a T-shirt and everyone will think you’re, well, cool. At least that’s the attitude over at El Kartel, whose signature Tees are adorned with a big, burly dude whose head and face are hidden by a mask straight out of the BDSM & Roebuck catalogue. We’re not sure if he’s modeled after The Gimp, or certain pro wrestlers of old, but we do know that we’d prefer not to meet him in a dark alley in the middle of the night.

But he does look good on a T-shirt, darn it! If you agree, and like to wear clothes that encourage conversation, visit El Kartel at 121A-1025 Robson Street or shop online at www.elkartel.com.

If you like good wine or tasting new wines with excellent food then have a look at yesterday's Brand New. Have you entered this week's Contest yet? Win two Orchestra Tickets, Value $150, to Ballet BC's production of Peter Pan.
