BRAND NEW [WEDNESDAY]

Taking Flight

January 16, 2008

Diner on Hamilton Street got bought and became Lucky Diner, which as it turns out wasn’t so lucky. . .  But we’re lucky, because the new owners have opened Flite, a wine bar with a small plates menu, in its place.

A dark interior with soft lighting and plush seats creates the atmosphere.  Wine arrives at the table in elegant silver serving holders.  The list is fairly extensive with about 25 wines available by the glass.  We found the series of wine flights - three glasses of 2 ounce pours - well priced, and it’s a nice way to get a sampling of different vintages.

The tapas are quite inexpensive, particularly for Yaletown.  We loved the Ahi tuna tartar on seared rice medallion and the Red wine braised meatballs with crustini.

Board this Flite and you won’t be disappointed by where it takes you.
