HOT PICKS [FRIDAY]

Wacky Wool

January 4, 2008

Ever have one of those days when you can’t decide between paisley and stripes? Now you don’t have to, thanks to the wacky and wonderful wool concoctions of Mod to Modern. Michelle Bergeron-Mok, Mod’s creator, takes “mix and match” to the limit. The Vancouver designer pulls apart thrift-store sweaters, switches up the various elements, and then stitches them together for a whole new look: a flowered number ends up with argyle sleeves, an angora piece is trimmed with lamb’s wool, and a formerly sober jumper gets embellished with lace. Even Rover can hop on the recycled-sweater bandwagon in fetching pieces made with his unique size and shape in mind. Shop online or venture to Dream Designs, 956 Commerical Dr. or Hum Clothing, 3623 Main St.
