Brand New [WEDNESDAY]

Vive La France

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Hang on to the last vestiges of summer by hanging out on the Yaletown seawall at Bardot, now in Quay’s former location. Named after icon Brigitte Bardot, the restaurant has that appealing French ‘Je ne sais quoi’ thing going on. It helps, of course, that there is that stunning view of the water with all those lovely yachts drifting by. . . Squint your eyes, sip your Pinot Gris and you’ll think you’re on the French Riviera.

Almost every seat in the place is arranged to make the most of the panorama and passing scene. Lots of classy black and crème leather – seats, booths, bar stools - nestled around a big cozy fireplace in the center of the main room, against the backdrop of a rock waterfall. Or sit on the patio and really feel like you’re on vacation.

We recommend a late lunch, so as to enjoy that view and revel in a little mid-day decadence. Bardot serves Mediterranean classics with West Coast flair – try the Fish chowder with pancetta & roasted corn salsa, the Grilled Lamp Chop Gremolata, or the Algarve Spicy Prawns with cognac and lemon.

Enjoy, mon ami.
