Mother’s Day Approacheth! And lest we not forget the importance of the card.

Moms keep that stuff forever, don’t you know.

Well, Shannon Barnes has got loads of new Mother’s Day cards to flaunt. Her company, Flaunt Cards, produces hand-made treasures with designs created using hand-torn mulberry paper, from the Asian mulberry tree, and coloured fabric paints. We think they’re gorgeous. And it’s a pretty good guess that Mom will too.

New designs include lady bugs "mom" and elephant "i love you mom".

Oh, and did we mention she only hires local women to help with production, runs the business and does all the designs herself, despite being a full-time Mom with a nine month old baby? And still finds time to create ingenious new cards. . .  Phew!

We appreciate art and locally made goods in this city. Seems the U.S. does too – her cards have been talked about in In-Style magazine and all kinds of other pubs. Fortunately, we get to call her "ours," and you can find her cards all over town, at Chachkas, Curious, and Urban Fare, to name a few. So what are you waiting for?
